Disney Danger: Family Creates Shoes with Gorilla Glue, Makes Child Taller for "Thrill Rides"
When one family attempted to help their toddler experience the "rush" of the thrill rides at Disney World, they went viral for a DIY stunt that has received criticism
What would YOU do if your child wasn't tall enough to ride the rides at your favorite theme park?
If you're like me (and likely 99.9% of the population), you'd probably move along and find something else to do until your little one finally hits that growth spurt.
But why should we let our child's growth rates determine our Disney experience? That's basically what one family asked themselves before going viral for a RIDICULOUS stunt that has received harsh criticism.
The Kelly Family (known as @the.Kelly.fam on TikTok) posted a TikTok showing a special kind of shoes they made so their toddler would be tall enough to experience the "rush" of the thrill rides.
So what was used to make these? Get a load of this quote:
"We took matters into our own hands and crafted a show that just might do the trick."
He states they're crafted "with the help of towering heels, extra flip-flop bottoms, and Gorilla Glue."
What the actual hell?
I'm sorry, but there's just no way this is worth the trouble AND the repercussions if you happen to get caught. Like, you're telling me that my glorified 1st-grade-science-experiment-height-altering-shoes are UNSAFE?
Regardless, the stunt didn't go as planned for the Kelly family regarding the reception.
Comments came with a steady dose of grilling, quick to pinpoint the legality of the situation.
"You do know that if he did get hurt…you can't sue right? Disney could actually ban and sue you," one commenter said.
Loads of other parents were just annoyed that these parents were instilling the idea that their children are "above" the rules, no pun intended.
Naturally, the family responded with an apology video.
"I would never ever put my kids in actual danger," the father stated.
He continues, "I would never condone any other parent trying to put their kid on a ride that they aren't tall enough for. You don't know what happened. In the video, you didn't see him actually go on any rides."
OK, guy.
He even stated that his son was already tall enough to ride the rides, telling viewers to "get the facts straight."
Harsh. And well, that doesn't even make sense, considering they made a YouTube video titled "I made my TODDLER tall enough for THRILL RIDES at DISNEY," clearly contradicting the previous statement.
He followed it up with a second apology TikTok that has since been deleted.
Height requirements for rides, as annoying as they may be, serve a safety purpose. As much as our children may want to ride the Incredicoaster, there are better ideas than making them some platforms out of duct tape and gorilla glue.
Be safe out there, parents!
UPDATE: The Kelly Family has since deleted all videos pertaining to the incident.
